The Story of The Fifty One

Womxn are fifty one percent of the population but only five percent of professionals working in the audio engineering and music production fields. The Fifty One was founded to change this statistic. Created in 2014 (as Seattle Sound Girls), the organization, now in its fifth year of providing education programs to youth in schools, camps, and private lessons, recently expanded to include a full-scale production company.

The production company was created to fill a void in live audio training grounds outside of the bar-heavy, late-night music scene. It will function as both a safe space to mentor young audio engineers, an equitable way to showcase local talent.

We look forward to seeing what the next five years will bring!
